This privacy policy describes the privacy practices employed for this investigational app and details what information it collects about you, how your information is used, with whom it is shared and how we protect it. We may make changes to this privacy policy at any time to reflect any updates, and we will notify you of any such changes.

This app is developed by CrossComm Inc., in collaboration with the Duke Behavioral Health and Technology Lab (DBHTL). The data collected in this app is only being collected because you are participating in this research study, and no personal identifiers (such as name and location) are being collected by the app. Data collected is for the purpose of examining feasibility of use of this mobile application for people who have chronic pain. This includes data related to frequency and timing of usage, viewing of app screens and tools, and outcomes of reported pain before and after usage.

The data collected from this app is not used for tracking, or third party marketing and advertising purposes. De-identified data may be viewed by individuals involved in this research. This may include other members of the research team, as well as those collaborating, funding, or regulating the study. Data may be viewed and shared among these individuals for the purpose of analyzing and reporting outcome data, and ensuring the protection of study participants. We will share only the minimum necessary information in order to conduct the research, and your name or other direct personal information will not be shared.

Data from the app will be stored in the app temporarily and then uploaded automatically to Amazon Web Services at the end of each mobile neurofeedback session. No identifying information will be stored in Amazon Web Services. De-identified data will be downloaded from Amazon Web Services and uploaded to our secure database throughout the study.

Any app that is downloaded carries potential security risks, and Duke cannot guarantee that the study app is free of risk. Some apps may be able to perform hidden functions or may have security flaws that allow unauthorized access to information. While confidentiality and security of data cannot be guaranteed, CrossComm Inc and the DBHTL shall maintain reasonable administrative, physical and technical safeguards designed to protect information against accidental loss, destruction or alteration, and unauthorized disclosure or access.
